BIOGRAPHY

Stanley Roy Badmin (1906-1989)

Stanley Roy Badmin was born in London and studied at the Camberwell School of Art and the Royal College of Art from 1922 to 1927. Badmin began his career as an illustrator but soon progressed to be elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1931 and the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours in 1932. Working for the Ministry of Information and the Royal Air Force Badmin made a major contribution to the British war effort. After 1945 Badmin remained committed to the same cause of promoting Britain by producing images of the English countryside in watercolours and prints as well as for commercial use in advertisements, posters, and illustrations for greeting cards.
