Begun in 1829 and issued in part I of English Landscape Scenery in June 1830.
A view of the Constable family Mill, ‘Pitt’s Mill’. Constable worked here as a boy and it was from here that he made amongst the earliest of his observations of nature. Constable said of this print, ‘This plate may perhaps give some idea of one of those fair and silvery days of the early years…when at noon large garish clouds surcharged with hail or sleet sweep with their broad shadows the fields, woods and hills…’
