Please Note: This item is not for sale.

Etching on chine colle. A bright impression on wove paper.

Inscribed in pencil 'An Old Bridge at Salisbury' beneath the image in the artist's hand. With an additional inscription 'Etched by John Constable. Presented to Mrs Inglis 1835', also in the artist's hand, on a piece of paper attached to the original frame. Mrs Inglis presumably refers to the daughter of Constable's cousin Jane Anne Inglis. There is a portrait of Jane Inglis painted by Constable in the British Government Art Collection.
