Original Marcel Duchamp poster for the exhibition 'Ready-Mades et Editions de et sur Marcel Duchamp' held at the Galerie Claude Givaudan in Paris from June the 8th to September the 30th 1967.

This poster is from the regular edition of 400 with the printed text. There was a further edition of 100 copies without the printed text, numbered 1/100-100/100 and signed lower right by the artist in ink.

The poster was conceived by Duchamp and Claude Givaudan. The hand holding the cigar is Duchamp's - a detail from a photograph taken in his old Paris studio in the Rue Larrey in May 1967. The smoke, excised from a photograph provided by Pierre Joly of the singer Georges Brassens smoking a pipe, was superimposed by Duchamp.

Reference: 'The Complete Works of Marcel Duchamp', Arturo Schwarz, cat no. 642.

Paper Size: 69.5 x 48 cm
