Gerrish Fine Art is pleased to offer you a collection of over 50 works by British artist Norman Ackroyd RA (b.1938). Spanning 50 years of the artist’s career, the exhibition provides a unique insight into the artist's singular devotion to the subject of landscape. Ackroyd has dedicated his life to exploring the dramatic scenery and fleeting weather effects innate to the British Isles; from his native Yorkshire to the remote islands off the coast of Scotland. His knowledge of these places is encyclopaedic, and his ability to translate the specific atmospheric conditions experienced in these ancient landscapes and seascapes is indicative of his genius.
Ackroyd has had numerous solo exhibitions worldwide and is represented in major public collections including: Tate, British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Scottish National Gallery, The National Gallery, Washington DC, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1991 and was made Senior Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 2000.
