Signed in pencil 'F.L. Griggs' lower right. Edition unknown but presumed to be considerable edition in the third state. Printed on thick laid paper.
Harold Wright (art historian and print expert, director of the London art dealer, Colnaghi Griggs’s dealer) said that he could not accommodate his eye to the acceptance of the octagon that enclosed the work and left the four corners of the plate blank. Griggs responded by stating that he felt the subject asked to be enclosed by the octagon.
