Knowles, Justin (1935-2004), 'S.149.01', Screenprint, 2002

'S.149.01', Screenprint, 2002

Initialled and dated by the artist in pencil. Numbered from the edition of 25.

"These screenprints were adapted from drawings Knowles originally made as preparatory studies for his sculpture, but which he also considers separate works. The source drawings were made of geometrical shapes cut from brightly coloured paper collaged onto graph paper in a variety of arrangements. The composition of 'S.149.01' consists of five vertical rectangular forms arranged to form an arrowhead. The outermost rectangles are flat blocks of yellow ink. Two green blocks directly adjacent to these are positioned slightly lower on the page, and a central red block forms a point at the bottom of the page." - Quotation Tate
