Etched design, before trimming and application to the wooden frame.
An undescribed impression printed in black, with the top medallion inked but before the etched signature.
As with ‘The Comedy Frame’ (H. 165) the frame was exhibited, for the first time, at the end of 1908. Both were used for several subjects. Roussel designed six frames in all, two for colour prints and four in monochrome.
