Trimmed to the platemark by the artist. Signed in pencil in the artist's tab lower middle margin.
One of several impressions printed in red-brown ink.
This full length portrait of Lady Archibald Campbell in costume is related to two other prints by Roussel (No.9 and No.10) and a large pastel entitled 'Ma Fonction est d'etre Blanc'. Its scale and the manipulation of ink or plate tone - on the unetched background in many impressions recall Whistler's drypoint portraits and his printing technique of the 1880s.
